BigMedilytics, an outstanding project at the 16th eHealth Network meeting

23 December, 2019

The BigMedilytics project was presented during the 16th eHealth Network meeting that took place at the Albert Borschette Conference Centre in Brussels, Belgium, on the 28th and 29th of November. Dr. Supriyo Chatterjea, a senior scientist at Philips Research and project leader of BigMedilytics, introduced the BigMedilytics project during the Open eHealth Network session held on the first day of the meeting.

According to a cover note by the eHealth Network Secretariat, interesting H2020 projects are brought to the attention of the relevant policymakers, who can review them for their potential to be scaled up. In this respect, the meeting included the Open eHealth Network session in which five projects were presented: BigMedilytics, My Health- My Data (MHMD), Smart4Health, Trillium II and Joining the dots.

The Open eHealth Network session also involved participants from WHO digital strategy and ‘1+ Million Genomes’ initiative. Stakeholders such as the European University Hospital Alliance, BEUC, COCIR, Digital Europe, EFPIA, EPF, EURORDIS, Medtech Europe and UEMS shared their views as well.

The 16th eHealth Network meeting was chaired by Anne Bucher, director-general for Health and Food Safety at the European Commission, and Henrique Gil Martins, president of Shared Services of the Ministry of Health in Portugal. The session started with the presentation of the new priorities in digital health by the European Commission, followed by an overview of the eHealth Network’s current plan and the discussion of the next multi-annual work plan as of 2021.

The second day covered topics such as the eHealth Digital Service Infrastructure status, the future of eHDSI and eHealth financing mechanisms, and Member State progress in eHDSI implementation and live operation. Several deliverables from the eHealth Action were also approved.
